The upgraded anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex (ZRPC) "Pantsir-S1M" is capable of fighting all types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including shock. Bekhan Ozdoev, Industrial director of the arms cluster of Rostec State Corporation, revealed such capabilities of the complex in an interview with TASS .
According to him, as a result of modernization, Pantsir, in particular, is able to effectively detect and destroy all types of attack UAVs in service.
In turn, Sergey Mikhailov, Deputy General director of the High-Precision Complexes holding, part of Rostec, said that the upgraded ZRPC is capable of becoming the basis of tactical air defense, covering any military units from small-sized and shock UAVs, high-precision weapons and military aviation - airplanes and helicopters, and can also hit small-sized drones.
Mikhailov noted that the Pantsir-S1M fully complies with the modern principles of A2/AD - the theory of building air defense, which allows blocking the enemy's access to critical areas.
In August, it was reported that Russia for the first time will sell to a foreign customer a mobile electronic countermeasures complex "Repellent Patrol", which provides zonal cover of territories to suppress drones at a distance of up to 20 kilometers. Contracts have also been signed for the supply of the Krasukha electronic warfare system and the Pantsir-S1M anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex. The relevant agreements were concluded during the Army-2021 forum.
