A detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) consisting of the corvette "Gremyashchy" and submarines of Project 636.3 "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" and "Volkhov" has arrived at the main base of the Pacific Fleet Vladivostok for the first time, the press service of the fleet reported on Tuesday.
"The commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sergey Avakyants, during a solemn rally at the 33rd berth of the Primorsky Flotilla of diverse Forces, congratulated the sailors of the detachment on their arrival in their native harbor. In addition to the fleet command, the personnel were met by relatives and friends, as well as representatives of manufacturing plants, the administration of Primorsky Krai and Vladivostok. The detachment completed the inter-fleet transition from the Baltic Fleet to the Pacific Fleet, which began in August of this year. In their home base, the Gremyashchy corvette and the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Volkhov submarines will carry out inventory replenishment and scheduled maintenance after the completion of the inter-fleet transition," the press service reported.
The corvette and both submarines are capable of carrying Kalibr-NK and Kalibr-PL cruise missiles, respectively. For the Pacific Fleet, these are the first diesel-electric submarines capable of carrying high-precision Kalibr cruise missiles.
The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky submarine was accepted into the Pacific Fleet in November 2019, the Volkhov in October 2020, and the St. Andrew's flag was raised on the Thundering corvette in December 2020. During the inter-fleet passage, the sailors crossed the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, as well as the Baltic, Northern, Mediterranean, Red, Arabian, South China and Japan Seas.
