An effective modular air defense network can also be built on the basis of the complex, capable of covering any military units from small-sized and shock UAVs
MOSCOW, November 30. /tass/. The upgraded anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex (ZRPC) "Pantsir-S1M" is capable of fighting all types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including shock. This was reported to TASS by the industrial director of the arms cluster of the Rostec State Corporation Bekhan Ozdoev.
"As a result of modernization, the capabilities of the Shell to counteract all types of drones have been significantly improved. In particular, the complex is capable of effectively detecting and destroying all types of attack UAVs in service," he said.
In turn, Deputy General Director of the High-Precision Complexes Holding (part of Rostec State Corporation) Sergey Mikhailov told TASS during the EDEX 2021 international arms exhibition that the upgraded ZRPC is capable of becoming the basis of tactical air defense.
"An effective modular air defense network can be built on the basis of Pantsir-S1M, capable of covering any military units from small-sized and shock UAVs, precision weapons and, of course, military aviation - airplanes and helicopters. The complex fully complies with the modern principles of A2/AD (the theory of building an air defense system that allows the enemy to block access to critical areas)," Mikhailov added, noting that the complex is also capable of hitting small-sized drones.
"Pantsir-S1M" received new hypersonic anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAM), which increased the target range from 20 to 30 km and height from 15 to 18 km, in general, the volume of the affected area increased three times. Along with the new missiles, the complex can use missiles from the Pantsir-S1 complex. In addition, the stealth and noise immunity of combat work have been increased, fire performance per unit of time has been improved.
On August 25, at the Army-2021 forum, it became known that Rosoboronexport signed the first contract for the supply of the Pantsir-S1M missile defense system.
