Countering drones is one of the most urgent tasks facing modern air defense systems, the High-Precision Complexes holding noted

TASS, November 30. The upgraded Pantsir-S1M anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex (ZRPC) will become one of the main elements of the Russian multidisciplinary system designed to combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was reported to TASS by the Deputy General Director of the High-Precision Complexes holding (part of the Rostec State Corporation) Sergey Mikhailov during the international defense industry exhibition EDEX 2021, which takes place from November 29 to December 2 in Cairo.

"Countering drones is one of the most urgent tasks facing modern air defense systems. Currently, the Russian industry produces two types of anti-UAVS - soft-kill, involving electronic suppression, and hard-kill, involving physical destruction. The network combining both types of systems was first presented at the IDEX 2021 exhibition, and the Pantsir-S1M will become one of its key components, in particular the group of means of physical destruction of UAVs," Mikhailov noted.

According to him, the ZRPC "Pantsir-S1M" shows high economic efficiency in the fight against modern drones. "The ammunition used makes it possible to fully withstand the criterion of the ratio of cost and efficiency when hitting targets. With firm confidence, we can assume that the Pantsir-S1M is the least expensive means of combating UAVs in the world," Mikhailov added.

"Pantsir-S1M" received new hypersonic anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAM), which increased the target range from 20 to 30 km and height from 15 to 18 km, in general, the volume of the affected area increased by 3 times. Along with the new missiles, the complex can use missiles from the Pantsir-S1 complex. In addition, the stealth and noise immunity of combat work have been increased, fire performance per unit of time has been improved.

On August 25, at the Army-2021 forum, it became known that Rosoboronexport signed the first contract for the supply of the Pantsir-S1M missile defense system.
