Moscow. November 29. INTERFAX - A special duty regime has been introduced in the units and formations of the Northern Fleet (SF) of Russia due to frosts, the military's stay in the open air has been reduced, the press service of the fleet reported on Monday.
"Due to a sharp drop in temperature in the locations of the forces and troops of the Northern Fleet, the regional command center of the SF headquarters, on the instructions of the fleet commander Admiral Alexander Moiseev, announced a Cold signal. It has been in effect for several days," the message says.
According to the hydrometeorological center of the Northern Fleet, the cold weather in the Arctic will last for several more days. Currently, the average daily air temperature in the locations of the fleet forces ranges from minus 20 to minus 30 degrees Celsius, the military said.
"The stay of personnel in the open air has been reduced, the departure of vehicles from units is limited, additional inspections of boiler houses providing heat to military camps and socially significant facilities in the garrisons of the Northern Fleet have been carried out. Other measures have also been taken to ensure the defense capability of the interspecific association in conditions of low temperatures, to prevent accidents and breakdowns of weapons of military and special equipment, hypothermia of personnel," the report says.
"Anti-icing measures are being carried out on warships and support vessels, especially those performing tasks at sea," the Northern Fleet said.
The Northern Fleet (headquarters in Severomorsk, Murmansk Region) is an interspecific strategic association of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation that protects Russia's national interests in the Arctic and other areas of the World Ocean. The submarine forces of the Northern Fleet are considered the most powerful association of nuclear submarines of the Russian Navy.
