CAIRO, Nov 29 - RIA Novosti. The EDEX defense Industry exhibition begins its work on Monday in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, more than 20 countries are expected to participate, including Russian companies.
The exhibition will be held for the second time - for the first time it was held in 2018 and attracted more than 30 thousand visitors. In 2020, the event could not be held due to the coronavirus pandemic, and it was postponed to next year: the exhibition will be held from November 29 to December 2 at the exhibition center in New Cairo.
However, the pandemic has not ended, and therefore, in order to access the exhibition, it is necessary to provide a certificate of vaccination, including "Sputnik V", or the result of a fresh PCR test.
It is expected that more than 400 companies from 42 countries will take part in the exhibition, 21 countries will open their pavilions, follows from a statement received by RIA Novosti from the representative of the Egyptian armed forces, Gharib Abdel Hafiz.
According to the organizers of the exhibition, the USA will be represented by 45 companies, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, France 30, India - 16, 15 companies will come from South Korea.
Russia will be represented by eight companies, in particular, Almaz-Antey Concern, as well as Rostec State Corporation and its constituent Rosoboronexport, Russian Helicopters, Roselectronics, High-Precision Complexes and Technodinamika holdings.
Thus, Almaz-Antey intends to demonstrate at the exhibition a line of air defense systems in demand in the Middle East, and will discuss with partners in the region the opening of service centers, the deputy general director of the company Vyacheslav Dzirkaln said earlier.
It is expected that at the exhibition the concern will show models of the Antey-4000 long-range anti-aircraft missile system, the Viking medium-range anti-aircraft missile system and the Vityaz S-350 air defense system, the Tor-M2E, Tor-M2K, Tor-M2KM short-range air defense systems, and the Adjutant universal target training complex.
Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev said earlier that at the Egyptian arms exhibition, the Russian special exporter will present more than 350 samples of products, including in the form of models. In addition, at the Rosoboronexport stand, Remdiesel will present models of Typhoon and Tornado cars, the Kalashnikov concern will demonstrate a wide range of small arms, and the world's largest manufacturer of armored vehicles, Uralvagonzavod, will show models of the T-90MS tank and the Terminator BMPT, which are extremely popular in the Middle East and Africa.
