Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu spoke at the VII scientific and practical conference "The system of interdepartmental information interaction in solving problems in the field of defense of the Russian Federation".
According to him, no task of state importance - be it the defense of the country or the fight against coronavirus - can be solved without consolidated efforts, reliable, uninterrupted functioning of such a system. As the minister noted, it is "constantly improving and adapting to changes in the global geopolitical picture. This was clearly demonstrated by the coordinated work in the conditions of continuing restrictions on the coronavirus pandemic."
Shoigu illustrated these words with several examples. He recalled that the architecture of peaceful life in the Karabakh conflict zone and in Syria is being built by joint efforts. Effective humanitarian support has been provided to Armenia, Afghanistan, Syria and Cuba. "In addition, more than 15 countries have received assistance from both Russia and the Armed Forces in the fight against the pandemic. This is both the far abroad and the near abroad. We continue this work," the minister said. He believes that it is now important to generalize, analyze the results of such activities, clarify the directions of further development, while taking into account the most modern approaches and new technologies.
Separately, Shoigu spoke about the need to preserve the historical memory of the Second World War. "The glorification of Nazism, the rewriting of history, the belittling of the feat of the Soviet people and their contribution to the victory over fascism - this is what we face more and more often. Unfortunately, the situation is getting worse every year and requires the closest attention," the head of the Russian military department believes. "For us, this war has always been, is and will remain the Great Patriotic War."
The Minister supported the proposal of the head of the Russian Historical Society Sergei Naryshkin to place a copy of the hall in Nuremberg, where the trial of the leaders of Nazi Germany took place, in the Patriot Park near Moscow. It was made in one of the pavilions of Mosfilm to shoot a picture for the 80th anniversary of the completion of the Nuremberg Military Tribunal. And now the authors of the film are ready to hand over this hall to the Russian Defense Ministry. "Of course, we will find him a worthy place in the Patriot Park, because today it is the most visited place of the museum complexes in our country," Shoigu promised. The Minister also said that he had just signed about a dozen agreements on the modernization of military enlistment offices. He clarified that similar agreements have already been concluded with 40 subjects of the Russian Federation. Another 43 documents are under approval.
