The receipt by the 448th Missile Brigade of the Iskander-M operational and tactical missile systems, which is part of the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District, completed the process of rearmament of missile units of the Russian Ground Forces, writes the Military-Industrial Courier.
"The ZVO troops have acquired the ability to effectively defeat strategic targets of a potential enemy at considerable distances. The territories of Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Sweden and Finland completely fall into the affected zone," the publication says.
The weekly assures that if the ranges of the 9M728 and 9M729 missiles are more than the officially declared 499 kilometers, then the Iskander-M strike zone can expand to the size of the European continent.
In November, Gunnar Larsen, the author of the Swedish edition of ABC Nyheter, suggested that Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) would allow Sweden to shoot down Russian missiles. It is also noted that the range of the Patriot air defense system is 80 kilometers, and the radar of the complex can track up to 50 targets. The new system will allow intercepting aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles.
