TSAMTO, November 26. On November 25, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko checked the progress of work on the modernization of MiG-31 interceptor fighters at the Sokol aircraft factory.
The Deputy Minister inspected the production facilities of the plant, checked the progress of work on the repair and modernization of MiG-31 fighters to the level of MiG-31BM, and also held a meeting on the implementation of the State Budget.
As part of the modernization, the aircraft's avionics are completely changed, the airframe is defective, areas that have been corroded are replaced in it – depending on the condition of the aircraft, their volume can range from 15 to 50%. The wiring and all rubber inserts are completely changed on the machines. The cab light is being replaced.
As representatives of the Sokol aircraft factory reported to the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexey Krivoruchko, foreign components on the upgraded MiG-31BM interceptor fighters have been almost completely replaced by Russian ones today.
"Today, within the framework of import substitution, we have almost completely transferred to the territory of Russia (by 99.99% percent) the manufacture of all components according to the level of suppliers of the 1st category. They have completely abandoned all the former Soviet republics, now everything is being produced is concentrated on the territory of Russia," the Sokol aircraft factory noted.
The representative of the plant clarified that according to the deadlines for major repairs with the modernization of MiG-31 aircraft at the Sokol plant, it takes no more than a year. "Our cycle in total - from the arrival to the departure of the aircraft - is less than a year. To a large extent, it depends on the work of first- and second-tier suppliers," he said.
As noted on the "Falcon", the overhaul allows you to get almost trouble-free operation of aircraft in service. "And the modernization, which is carried out with the complete replacement of on-board electronic equipment with modern samples and provides for the use of modern aviation weapons, increases the combat effectiveness of the aircraft by about 3 times," the representative of the enterprise noted.
Currently, the main task of the Sokol plant is the overhaul with deep modernization of MiG-31 interceptor fighters, which has been underway since 2007, according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
