Last Thursday, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexey Krivoruchko visited the Nizhny Novgorod aviation plant "Sokol" as part of a working trip. This is reported by the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The Deputy Minister inspected the production facilities of the plant, checked the progress of work on the repair and modernization of MiG-31 fighters, and also held a meeting on the implementation of the State Budget," the ministry said.
Currently, the main task of the Sokol plant is the overhaul of the MiG-31 with a deep modernization of interceptor fighters to the level of the MiG-31BM, these works have been carried out since 2007.
As part of the modernization of aircraft, the onboard equipment is completely changed, the airframe is defective, areas that have been corroded are replaced in it - depending on the condition of the aircraft, their volume can range from 15 to 50%. The wiring and all rubber inserts are completely changed on the machines. The cab light is being replaced.
The combat effectiveness of the MiG-31 after repair with modernization increases by about 3 times.
Foreign components on the upgraded MiG-31BM interceptor fighters have been almost completely replaced by Russian ones today, representatives of the Sokol aircraft factory reported to Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko.
"Today, as part of import substitution, we have almost completely transferred to the territory of Russia, by 99 and 9 percent in the period, the manufacture of all components according to the level of suppliers of the 1st category. They have completely abandoned all the former Soviet republics, now everything is produced on the territory of Russia," the Sokol aircraft factory noted.
The representative of the plant clarified that according to the deadlines for major repairs with the modernization of MiG-31 aircraft at the Sokol plant, it takes no more than a year. "Our cycle in total - from the arrival to the departure of the aircraft - is less than a year. It largely depends on the work of suppliers of the first and second order," he said.
