MOSCOW, November 25. /tass/. An upgraded version of the MiG-31 interceptor fighter with an electric control system is undergoing state tests in the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexey Krivoruchko representatives of the aircraft factory "Sokol".

"On November 25, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexey Krivoruchko visited the Nizhny Novgorod aviation plant "Sokol" as part of a working trip. The Deputy Minister inspected the production facilities of the plant, checked the progress of work on the repair and modernization of MiG-31 fighters, and also held a meeting on the implementation of the State Budget," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
According to the Sokol plant, "there is an option to modernize this aircraft, where we switch from a mechanical control system to an electric station, as a result, a number of computers appear that are put on board."
"An option with an electric control system is already being implemented - now this version of the upgraded interceptor is being tested," the representative of the enterprise said.
Currently, the main task of the Sokol plant is the overhaul of the MiG-31 with a deep modernization of interceptor fighters to the level of the MiG-31BM, these works have been carried out since 2007.
As part of the modernization, the aircraft's avionics are completely changed, the airframe is defective, the corroded areas are replaced in it - depending on the condition of the aircraft, their volume can range from 15 to 50%. The wiring and all rubber inserts are completely changed on the machines. The cab light is being replaced.
