This will avoid dumping waste into the sea and the formation of space debris.
NEW DELHI, November 24. /tass/. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is working to create self-destructing rockets and satellites that will not pollute the environment or the Earth's orbit. This was reported to journalists by the head of ISRO Kailasavadivu Sivan.
"All our rockets have metal hulls that are dumped into the sea after launch or become space debris at the final stage. We are working on a technology with which rockets will effectively self-destruct to avoid dumping waste into the sea and the formation of space debris. We are considering special materials for housings that can burn together with engines," the Times of India newspaper quoted Sivan on Wednesday.
The head of ISRO also noted that technology is being developed for the self-destruction of satellites in orbit. "[The destruction button] will start the process in which the satellite will burn up in orbit," he explained.
The Indian Space Agency is also working on other technologies. We are talking about the production of various products in space, the creation of a quantum communication network, advanced radars and so on, Sivan noted.
