Crews of Mi-8AMTSh transport and combat helicopters-In the Central Military District, about 10 combat training tasks were completed at the first night flight tactical exercises at the mountain range in Tuva. The exercises will end at the end of November, they involved 10 Mi-8 helicopters and about 100 military personnel from among the flight, engineering and technical personnel, flight support and control groups, as well as search and rescue and parachute service specialists.
"During the exercise, helicopter crews made more than 50 night sorties. The pilots performed maneuvering and overcoming mountain ranges at night using GEO-ONV-1 night vision goggles, which allowed the crews to navigate in the mountains without turning on lighting devices, remaining unnoticed," the report says.
The press service noted that the exercises in Tuva became possible after the start of using the airfield in Kyzyl. It has the necessary infrastructure for regular training flights and tactical flight exercises in mountainous terrain day and night without additional support for the flight process, and also allows you to increase the intensity of training and increase the number of crews involved at the same time.
