"Anti-satellite weapons have been developed in Russia for a long time, there is no secret about this. It's just that the time has come when the Ministry of Defense conducted tests," Rogozin said.
He stressed that in modern conditions, anti-satellite weapons are an obvious thing that Russia must possess in order to be able to defend itself.
Earlier, the CEO of Roscosmos also spoke about the concern of the state corporation due to the fact that the United States and NATO are launching potential weapons carriers into space. "There is a topic that cannot but bother us — this is the topic of the militarization of outer space. We see how in recent decades the United States, first of all, and their NATO allies, have been launching into space not weapons, but potential carriers of these weapons," he said.
On November 16, the United States accused Russia is accused of creating a threat to the safety of space research due to the test of an anti-satellite missile. In response, the Russian Defense Ministry published a video that proves that the fragments formed after testing anti-satellite weapons in space do not pose a threat to the ISS.
