Submariners of the Russian Northern Fleet conducted special anti-submarine exercises with practical torpedo firing in the Barents Sea. This was reported on November 20 by the press service of the SF.
"The nuclear submarine missile cruiser of the Northern Fleet, which performs scheduled combat training tasks in the Barents Sea, has worked out the use of torpedo weapons on an underwater target," the report says.
According to the press service, the counteraction to the cruiser during the maneuvers was provided by a multipurpose nuclear submarine of one of the formations of the submarine forces of the Northern Fleet. It is specified that the torpedo attack with the use of practical ammunition, that is, with the absence of a warhead, was carried out at a depth of about 100 m.
In addition, the crew of the submarine practiced underwater maneuvering, evading enemy attacks, as well as swimming in various modes, the SF said.
"After the successful execution of the torpedo firing, the training torpedo was lifted out of the water by a torpedo boat and delivered to the base. Submariners, in turn, continued to carry out planned tasks for combat training in the Barents Sea," the Navy's operational and strategic association added.
Earlier, on November 18, the frigate of the Northern Fleet "Admiral Gorshkov" performed a test firing of a hypersonic missile "Zircon". Surface ships and naval aviation of the SF were involved in providing shooting and closing the area.
On September 27, the Arctic group of the Northern Fleet conducted an interspecific tactical exercise to protect the island zone in the Laptev Sea. It was clarified that during the maneuvers, which were exclusively defensive in nature, the amphibious landing on the Arctic coast of the island was worked out.
The tenth Arctic campaign of the surface forces of the SF began on August 10 with the departure from the main fleet base of the city of Severomorsk. During the Arctic campaign, the ships and support vessels of the SF have traveled more than 8,700 nautical miles, conducted a number of exercises in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas, as well as in the port of Dudinka.
