Moscow. November 20. INTERFAX-AVN - Missile strike control training was conducted in the Ivanovo region with the calculations of the Iskander-M operational and tactical missile systems (OTRK) from the Guards Tank Army, the Western Military District (ZVO) reported on Saturday.
"During the training, the calculations worked out a hidden advance to the designated positional areas, deployed launchers and transport-loading vehicles, prepared data for strikes and performed electronic missile launches at important targets of the conditional enemy at various ranges," the report said.
According to the headquarters of the Far East, about 100 military personnel were involved in the training, more than 15 units of weapons, military and special equipment were involved.
The Iskander-M OTRK was developed at the Kolomna Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering (High-Precision Complexes Holding). In the variant for the Russian army, the complex includes two types of missiles: ballistic and cruise.
The flight range of the Iskander-M missiles was officially called - up to 500 km. It was reported that the missiles of the complex can carry a nuclear warhead. The complex is in service with missile brigades of the Russian Ground Forces. Iskander-M replaced the Tochka-U OTRK.
On August 2, 2019, the United States officially terminated its participation in the Intermediate-range and Shorter-Range Missiles Treaty (INF Treaty). Before that, the United States accused Russia of violating the treaty. Washington had claims to the range of the Russian 9M729 cruise missile of the Iskander-M complex. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that the range of Iskander-M missiles did not violate the INF Treaty.
