Beijing. November 20. INTERFAX - China has successfully launched a Gaofeng-11 series remote sensing satellite into orbit, the China Space Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) reported on Saturday.
"November 20 at 9:51 Beijing time (4:51 Moscow time) The Gaofeng-11-03 satellite was launched from the launch pad of the Taiyuan Cosmodrome using the Changzheng-4B launch vehicle. The satellite has reached the planned orbit, the mission has been recognized as successful," the corporation said in a statement.
According to CASC, the device was created by specialists of the Chinese Academy of Space Technologies (CAST). Its tasks include surveying the Earth's surface in high resolution for the organization of high-quality urban planning, railway construction, crop yield assessment of agricultural areas, as well as the prevention of natural disasters.
The Gaofeng family of remote sensing satellites is being used as part of China's state program to create a satellite system for round-the-clock high-resolution observation of the Earth's surface (CHEOS), approved by the government in 2010.
