As Alexander Smirnov, CEO of the NGO "Splav", noted, the relevance of this weapon will remain for a long time
MOSCOW, November 19. /tass/. The family of the latest multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) "Tornado" has proven itself as a reliable and effective weapon. This was announced in an interview with TASS by the General Director of the A. N. Ganichev Alloy NGO (part of the Technodinamika holding of Rostec State Corporation) Alexander Smirnov.
"Currently, the Tornado family consists of two systems: the 122-mm Tornado-G MLRS and the 300-mm Tornado-S MLRS. The Tornado-G and Tornado-S systems adopted have proven themselves to be highly effective and reliable weapons that meet the most modern requirements," Smirnov said.
According to him, the relevance of the Tornado MLRS family will remain for a long time: "They are conceptually new systems and their relevance, in our opinion, will remain for many years."
Tornado-G is a 122-mm multiple launch rocket system, the development of the Grad MLRS. The new system can fire from unprepared positions in an automated mode, which allows you to quickly open fire, then transfer the artillery part of the system to a marching position directly from the cockpit and change location.
The long-range 300-millimeter MLRS Tornado-S can fire at targets at a range of 120 km and cover an area of more than 60 hectares. The complex is capable of firing both single rockets and a full volley of 12 guides.
