The Deputy chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General John Hyten, spoke about the tests of a hypersonic missile in China. In an interview with CBS, he noted the accuracy of the Chinese missile, Interfax reports.
Hyten noted that the Chinese military launched a long-range missile. According to him, the munition dropped a hypersonic gliding unit, which was able to hit a target in China.
The general added that the Chinese combat unit had approached the target. According to the American military, the Chinese can launch a nuclear strike on the United States.
In October, Hyten said that China is ahead of Russia in the development of hypersonic weapons. The general added that Russia has deployed four types of hypersonic weapons on intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Earlier in October, The Financial Times newspaper reported on the testing of a hypersonic missile with a nuclear charge in China. Sources of the publication noted that the tests were conducted in August. The rocket circled the globe and descended to hit the target.
Later, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Zhao Lijian, said that in August a spacecraft was launched in China, not a rocket.
