Sergey Bogatikov, CEO of Kronstadt JSC, also noted that the concept of integrating drones into a single airspace approved by the government in October will accelerate the process of Orion's civil certification
DUBAI, November 17. /tass/. The introduction of an artificial intelligence system leads to the phased autonomization of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), in particular Orion. This was announced to TASS by Sergey Bogatikov, CEO of Kronstadt JSC, at the Dubai Airshow 2021 International Airshow.
"As for artificial intelligence, there is a gradual autonomization of the complex. The new automated operator workplace presented at the Dubai exhibition is just another step towards greater autonomy of the unmanned aerial vehicle," he said.
Bogatikov noted that augmented reality technology is also used - elements are added that obviously exist, but are implicitly expressed visually - then they are completed for the convenience of operators. "It is planned to introduce such technologies, and they are already being used in the current versions of Orion," he said.
The CEO of Kronstadt expressed hope that the concept of integrating drones into a single airspace approved in October by the Government of the Russian Federation will accelerate the process of civil certification of Orion. "We hope that due to the fact that in October the Russian government finally approved the concept of integrating drones into a single airspace, the process will accelerate. For us, this is a very long-awaited document, in the development of which the specialists of the Kronstadt company were directly involved," he said.
Bogatikov explained that the difficulties for obtaining a full-fledged certificate are that there are no relevant program documents that would define the framework for technological development, a plan for financing the creation of technical solutions, the deployment of appropriate infrastructure, etc. "This is all necessary for certification and ensuring the safe use of unmanned aircraft systems in a single airspace," the company's CEO said.
Dubai Airshow is one of the largest international aviation and space exhibitions and is held in the UAE once every two years. Russia has been participating in it since 1993.
