The state Corporation Roscosmos assessed the danger of space debris for the International Space Station (ISS). Representatives of the state corporation noted that all ISS systems are working normally. This is reported by the newspaper "Kommersant".
Representatives of Roscosmos commented on the statements of the US authorities about dangerous fragments that allegedly remained after the tests of Russia's anti-satellite weapons. The US said that dangerous fragments pose a threat to the ISS.
"At the moment, the crew of the International Space Station regularly performs work according to the flight program. The orbital parameters of the station are located in the so-called green zone. The remaining issues are not within the competence of Roscosmos," the state corporation noted.
Earlier, the US State Department accused Russia in the testing of anti-satellite weapons. The representative of the ministry stressed that the Russian tests threaten the safety of the ISS. The State Department noted that a missile strike on one of the satellites allegedly led to the appearance of dangerous fragments.
Later, the Space Command of the US Armed Forces issued a statement about the tests of Russian anti-satellite weapons. They pointed out that a Russian rocket shot down the COSMOS 1408 satellite, which was put into orbit in 1982.
On Tuesday, experts from the Mission Control Center near Moscow recommended that the ISS astronauts take shelter from space debris on the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft. Dangerous elements flew past the station. After that, the astronauts were allowed to return to the ISS.
