The system is designed for autonomous determination of the spatial position and altitude-speed parameters of the aircraft, the press service of the Concern Radioelectronic Technologies told
DUBAI, November 16. /tass/. The deeply upgraded Ka-226T helicopter, which is being demonstrated abroad for the first time at the Dubai Airshow 2021 in the UAE, has received more compact and lightweight avionics with improved characteristics. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the Concern Radioelectronic Technologies (KRET) of the Rostec State Corporation within the framework of the air show.
"The system is designed for autonomous determination of the spatial position and altitude-speed parameters of the aircraft. The equipment included in the improved Ka-226T also differs in smaller weight and dimensions," the press service said.
The onboard equipment of the Ka-226T includes a whole series of devices: a unit for collecting information about general-purpose equipment and power plant, indicators for displaying information to the crew, a system of backup devices, a light-signal display. The new system of backup instruments PSOE-5-3 in autonomous mode determines the roll, pitch and magnetic course of the helicopter, calculates its barometric altitude, instrument speed, vertical speed, provides flight navigation data, information about engine parameters, aircraft coordinates, as well as emergency, warning and notifying information.
The international premiere of the updated Ka-226T took place as part of the Dubai Airshow 2021. The helicopter is adapted for flights in the highlands, so the modernization project of the machine received the working name "Climber". It is distinguished from the previous models of the Ka-226 family by a new airframe and fuselage design with increased aerodynamic characteristics. The helicopter body is made using modern lightweight materials. The helicopter is equipped with a shock-resistant fuel system that meets the increased safety requirements.
Flight tests of the light upgraded Ka-226T are currently being conducted on the basis of the test complex of the National Helicopter Building Center "Miles and Kamov". Serial production of the upgraded Ka-226T helicopter is planned to begin in 2022 at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant in close cooperation with the Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise.
The international exhibition Dubai Airshow 2021 takes place from November 14 to 18 in the United Arab Emirates. Russia has prepared a number of world premieres for the air show: flights of the Russian MS-21-310 airliner (with Russian PD-14 engines), a medical version of the Ansat helicopter and Mi-28NE and Ka-52E combat helicopters. The latter are presented to the international public for the first time. In the static exposition of Russian equipment, you can see a prototype of the Checkmate light tactical aircraft, as well as Ka-226T and Mi-171A2 helicopters. In addition, the Russian Orion drone is shown.
