The 17th International Aerospace Exhibition Dubai Airshow 2021 has started in Dubai, where the MS-21-310 passenger aircraft with new Russian PD-14 engines and the SSJ-100 AURUS business jet are presented. This was reported on November 14 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the scene.
MS-21-310 was produced by Irkut Corporation (part of PJSC UAC of Rostec State Corporation). SSJ-100 AURUS was created for VIPs.
In addition to these developments, Dubai Airshow 2021 showed a new modification of the Russian military transport helicopter Mi-8/17, as well as an upgraded light helicopter Ka-226T (developed by the Russian Helicopters holding Rostec). The second one is a "transformer". It can be transformed into one of five modifications — to become a passenger, transport, medical, police or search and rescue.
The main event of the exhibition was the presentation of the Checkmate fighter. It was presented by Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rostec, and Yuri Slyusar, CEO of the United Aircraft Corporation.
Checkmate Light Tactical Aircraft (LTS) are distinguished by breakthrough characteristics: high flying qualities, the latest equipment and reduced visibility for enemy radars.
Checkmate will cost $25-30 million. It will be collected in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
On September 3, Manturov announced on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF) that Russia is ready to fully finance the creation of the fifth-generation Su-75 Checkmate fighter. At the same time, he admitted that foreigners can finance the creation of a two-seat fighter model because they have a corresponding request.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 20 at MAKS-2021 inspected a model aircraft in the Sukhoi pavilion. As specified in Rostec, there were no analogues of such an aircraft in Russia yet.
