The promising Russian light tactical aircraft (LTS), known as Checkmate and Su-75, could be a serious blow to the United States, Defence24 admits .
The Polish edition notes that the UAE authorities are annoyed and tired of the situation around the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet, which the American side refuses to sell to the Arabs because of Israel's position.
"If the diplomats from Moscow succeed and the Su-75 is appreciated by the leaders of the Persian Gulf countries, there will be a real chance for the development and rapid introduction of the Su-75 into production. It will also be another serious blow to the US positions in the region," the publication says.
In November, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov said that potential foreign customers are interested in the Russian Su-57, which is the world's only fifth-generation heavy fighter offered for export, due to its low visibility, high speed, combat load and maneuverability.
In July, Rostec presented the LTS at the MAKS-21 International Aviation and Space Salon. According to Chemezov, a single-engine tactical fighter will cost from 25 to 30 million dollars. As the head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yuri Slyusar noted, the aircraft shown in the cabin is a sample that will fly in 2023.
