To create a Russian fighter, Checkmate can attract foreign funding: Rostec allows foreign capital to participate in the project. The head of the state corporation Sergey Chemezov said this in an interview with TASS .
"At this stage, the machine is being created at its own expense with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. Nevertheless, with the interest of our partners, we are open to the participation of foreign capital in the project," he said.
Earlier, the chief designer of Checkmate, Mikhail Strelets, called the condition for maximum efficiency of Checkmate. He noted that the combat potential of the aircraft will increase the possibility of joint use of a light tactical fighter (LTS) and drones.
In September, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told RIA Novosti that Checkmate will be created without attracting foreign investment. According to him, the project is provided by the programs of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as extra-budgetary funds of Rostec and the United Aircraft Corporation. He also did not rule out foreign participation in the creation of the LTS.
Checkmate LTS was presented at the MAKS-2021 Air Show in July. The maximum speed of the fighter can reach 1.8-2 Mach. The combat load of Checkmate will be 7.4 tons. In July, Sergey Chemezov noted that the cost of the aircraft will be from 25 to 30 million dollars.
