TSAMTO, November 12. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Romanian defense company IAR-Brasov for the production of UAVs based on the Tactical Heron drone in Romania.
As reported in the press release of the Israeli company, the systems will be manufactured at the IAR-Brasov enterprise in Brasov. In addition, IAI will create a training center for operators and technical specialists in Romania. Other details of the project have not yet been announced.
The cooperation agreement is based on the extensive experience of both companies in the design, production, assembly and testing of aircraft in order to develop the most modern tactical UAV in the Heron line. After the transfer of technical documentation, work on the design, production of components and their integration, assembly and maintenance of the new UAV will be carried out in-house in Romania.
Tactical Heron is the most advanced and innovative UAV in the Heron line. The device is designed to perform tactical tasks (mainly in the interests of the ground forces) and can be equipped with various payloads.
As noted, the UAV has one of the highest safety and reliability ratings in the world, is able to operate in extreme weather conditions. It is equipped with a modern licensed and reliable engine. The maximum flight altitude is 24 thousand feet, the speed is 120 knots, the payload is 180 kg.
