Russian long-range missile bombers performed tasks in the airspace of Belarus that do not require nuclear weapons. This is reported by the Telegram channel "Before anyone else. Well, almost" with reference to a source in the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
The source stressed that strategic supersonic Tu-22M3 and Tu-160M aircraft can carry missiles and bombs with a nuclear warhead, but combat training missions in Belarus did not require the use of such ammunition.
Earlier, TASS, with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, reported on the simulation of bombing by Russian Tu-160 aircraft. The maneuvers took place at the Ruzhansky aviation training ground.
On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry published a video of the flight of two Tu-22M3 missile bombers over the territory of Belarus. The planes checked the actions of the calculations of the unified air defense system of the Union State. The bombers also worked out interaction with ground control points.
In August, a TASS source in the aircraft industry called the deadline for the readiness of a Promising long-range aviation Complex (PAK DA). According to him, the demonstration model of the aircraft will be ready by 2023. PAK DA will be able to perform the tasks of Tu-160, Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 aircraft.
