Russian military personnel will hold the strategic exercise "Vostok-2022" next year. According to the commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sergei Avakyants, the Pacific Fleet has already begun to prepare for it.
"One of the main tasks in 2022 is the participation of the Pacific Fleet in the strategic command and staff exercise Vostok-2022," Avakyants stressed in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper published on November 10.
In addition, the Pacific Fleet will conduct operational exercises in remote areas of the Pacific Ocean. Next year, the flagship of the Pacific Fleet of the Varyag Guards missile cruiser is scheduled to make a long-distance trip to the Republic of Seychelles, the admiral stressed.
On Wednesday, October 27, it became known that the Pacific Fleet will receive two nuclear submarines of project 955 "Borey-A" and two of project 885M "Yasen-M" in the coming years. This was announced by the Chief of Staff of the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet, Rear Admiral Arkady Navarsky.
According to him, the updated cruisers of project 955 "Borey-A", which will arrive at the base, are carriers of solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missiles R-30 "Bulava".
Earlier, on October 28, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on large-scale exercises of five air defense formations with a large number of combat launches from the S-300V4, Buk-M3 and Tor-M complexes were held in the Astrakhan region.
The maneuvers, as emphasized in the department, involved more than 1 thousand military personnel and 300 units of weapons and military equipment.
