Moscow. November 10th. INTERFAX - The Pacific Fleet will receive a number of new ships and submarines in the near future, said the commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sergey Avakyants.
"By the end of this year, the inter-fleet crossing will be completed and the Gremyashchy corvette of Project 20385 and two diesel submarines of Project 636.3 Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Volkhov will arrive at their bases," Avakyants said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper published on Wednesday.
"In the next academic year, the new ships will take an active part in combat training as part of the Pacific Fleet forces. This corvette and submarines are capable of carrying Kalibr-NK cruise missiles and will significantly enhance the combat potential of the fleet," the admiral said.
He recalled that the third diesel submarine of the project 636.3 "Magadan" was included in the TOPF.
"We are waiting for her at her home base in 2022, after making an inter-fleet transfer from the Baltic Fleet, where she is currently located. Also next year, the fourth submarine of this project, Ufa, will join the fleet. Taking into account the pace of construction, we plan to receive all six of these submarines by 2024," the commander said.
"As for the prospects for the modernization of ships in our fleet, the next after the modernized frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov will be the modernization of the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Vinogradov of Project 1155, on which work is already underway in accordance with the schedule," the admiral added.
