The composition of the country's fundamentally new anti-missile screen, which is being worked on in Russia, will include not only radars that report the beginning of an attack.
It will also include radars that "see" the air situation for several thousand kilometers - the so-called over-the-horizon stations.
According to Izvestia sources in the military department, it is planned that a fully updated missile attack warning system (SPRN) will be deployed by 2030. Now it covers the entire territory of Russia, but by 2030, the capabilities of the SPRN should radically increase. It will help to fend off attacks inflicted with the help of weapons systems that are only being created today.
Currently, a work plan is being worked out to modernize the missile attack warning system — both the timing and the complexes that will be included in the SPRN are being agreed.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, it is expected that the work will be completed by 2030. We are talking about the deployment of fundamentally new radar stations in two constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as about the deep modernization of several existing and operational radar complexes.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that last year, more than 90 launches of foreign and domestic ballistic missiles, as well as space missiles, were recorded by the on-duty means of the Russian SPRN. In total, over half a century of the existence of this system, several thousand such events have been identified in time.
