The troops of the Southern Military District are at the forefront of the combat training system of the Russian Army. Here it has long been put at the forefront, the commander of the troops of the Southern Military District, Hero of Russia, Army General Alexander Dvornikov, told the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.
He noted that the process of professional training of military personnel is constantly being improved. When forming the training program, the experience gained during the special operation in Syria is taken into account. Its peculiarity is the absence of clear lines between the tasks of the strategic, operational and tactical levels.
Commander-in-Chief Dvornikov noted that the basis of combat training is the practice of actions in desert and mountainous terrain, conducting combat in populated areas, using air strikes and precision weapons of the Air Force and Air Defense Army, missile formations, the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla. Commanders are taught to make decisions ahead of the enemy, unexpected for the enemy, in order to have the initiative during the battle.
A non-standard technique was the use of counterattacking troops of tactical breakthrough groups. Battalion group commanders received not only units of various branches of the armed forces, but also the opportunity to use the entire range of their weapons unconventionally. They use such concepts as "sniper tank", "wheelbarrow", "wandering mortar".
Engineering units in modern combat not only provide fortification equipment and safe routes for the movement of troops, but, along with special forces, are able to capture a strongpoint or command post, a fortified area. They also master the use of remote means of mine clearance as a powerful weapon against enemy manpower and firing points.
