The commander of the Central Military District troops Alexander Lapin noted that the capabilities of the BMPT company for a motorized rifle regiment will also be investigated
CHEBARKUL /Chelyabinsk region/, November 8. /tass/. The first nine tank support combat vehicles (BMPT) "Terminator" will be part of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Central Military District (CVO), whose units are stationed in the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, from December 1 this year, following the results of successful tests. This was reported to journalists by the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.
"This year, on the basis of the 90th Tank Division, we successfully tested new ways of using tank support combat vehicles, it was a long-awaited event for us. We have comprehensively studied all the characteristics of these combat vehicles, and I can definitely say after testing, after a research exercise that we conducted in June this year, the tank support combat vehicle is very effective, there is no equal in firepower for this class of this vehicle," Lapin said at the awards ceremony for the winners of the district stage of the Central Media-As - 2021 press festival.
"We are now introducing a company of BMPT from nine combat vehicles to the staff by the end of this year, by December 1, by the decision of the Minister of Defense and the instruction of the Chief of the General Staff to one of the tank regiments of the 90th Tank Division. And in June next year we will hold a larger-scale research exercise,..> we will explore the possibilities of using the BMPT battalion," he added.
The Colonel-General noted that the capabilities of the BMPT company for the motorized rifle regiment will also be investigated. "I am deeply convinced that this equipment will successfully perform combat missions in combined arms combat and in accordance with modern requirements as the most effective fire means not only to support tanks, but also to solve a wide range of tasks in the mountains and settlements," Lapin said.
The Terminator BMPT was delivered to the Ural tank division in December last year only for trial operation and development by military personnel. Terminator is a multi-purpose combat tracked fire support vehicle with powerful weapons, modern fire control devices and high maneuverability. The machine is capable of hitting lightly armored targets, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, together with military air defense to fight helicopters and low-flying low-speed enemy aircraft.
