Press Secretary of the President of Ukraine Sergey Nikiforov on Sunday, November 7, on the air of the TV channel "Dom" said that the main task of the new Minister of Defense of the country Alexey Reznikov will be to provide the army financially.
The representative of the office of the head of state noted that Reznikov took a month break from communicating with the press to get up to date and conduct a full audit of the military department.
"It seems to me that the president set exactly such a task, so that the Ukrainian serviceman was shod, dressed, so that he ate well, so that he had good material security, competitive salaries - Mr. Reznikov spoke about this in the Verkhovna Rada when voting for his candidacy," Nikiforov said.
On November 4, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the appointment of Reznikov to the post of Minister of Defense of the country, the initiative was supported by 273 deputies with the required minimum of 226 votes. Thus, Reznikov took the place of Andrei Taran, who resigned on November 2. His candidacy to the parliament was submitted by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
On the same day, the new Minister of Defense announced that the abolition of compulsory conscription in the army is possible in Ukraine. He stressed that he dreams of the country's transition to a professional army.
