The crews of the ships of the Baltic Fleet (BF) have carried out 430 combat exercises this year, including rocket, artillery and torpedo firing, mine laying, depth bombing, anti-mine exercises. This was announced on Sunday, November 7, by the press service of the BF.
It is noted that the ships have passed more than 120 course tasks, and ship formations and tactical groups have conducted more than 30 tactical exercises of different levels. In total, surface ships and support vessels have traveled about 200 thousand nautical miles. Shock, trawling and amphibious naval tactical groups have been prepared.
The press service stressed that the servicemen of the oldest naval association of Russia participated in the SSU with Belarus "West-2021", where they showed their best qualities. Many of the most important episodes of the maneuvers, including the landing, took place in the Baltic.
Ships and support vessels of the Baltic Fleet continue to perform tasks in long-distance ocean voyages as part of a permanent Naval task force in the Mediterranean. So, in April, a detachment consisting of the corvette "Stoyky", the tanker "Cola", the sea tug "Yakov Grebelsky" and the floating workshop PM-82 returned from a long hike. For four months, the sailors of the Stoyky and the Cola took part in international maneuvers in the Indian Ocean. The crew of the corvette has worked out several dozen exercises of various directions. In addition, the military personnel of the "Stoyky" conducted exercises on anti-aircraft and anti-submarine defense, anti-terror groups worked out actions against pirates, and also performed tasks to escort civilian vessels in the Arabian and Red Seas.
Large amphibious ships "Korolev" and "Kaliningrad" under the flag of the commander of the compound made a five-month long trip to the Mediterranean and Black Seas.
The corvette "Boyky" and the BDK "Minsk" have traveled more than 5.5 thousand nautical miles in 37 marching days and demonstrated the St. Andrew's flag on the expanses of the Baltic and North Seas, the strait zone and off the coast of Great Britain.
This year, more than 100 Baltic sailors were awarded various state and departmental awards for successfully solving the tasks of long-distance campaigns, merits in strengthening the country's defense capability, maritime training, maintaining high combat readiness and courage.
Earlier, on October 3, for the first time, a hypersonic cruise missile "Zircon" was fired from the nuclear missile cruiser "Severodvinsk" from a surface position.
The Ministry of Defense clarified that the flight corresponded to the specified parameters, and the tests were recognized as successful. According to the admiral-submariner, former commander of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation Vladimir Valuev, the successful launch of the Zircon from a submarine indicates that the tests are on schedule and the Navy will receive missiles in due time.
