Moscow. November 6th. INTERFAX - The new Russian small rocket ship Cyclone will undergo sea trials and weapons preparation for test firing in the Black Sea in mid-November, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"During the factory sea trials of the Cyclone small rocket ship, built for the Black Sea Fleet, the operation of the ship's main power plants, compliance with the technical characteristics of systems and mechanisms with previously announced indicators will be checked in the Black Sea," the report says.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, sea trials are scheduled for November 14. During this event, the ship's armament will be prepared for test artillery and rocket firing.
The Cyclone was launched at the end of last summer. It belongs to the small rocket ships of the project 22800 "Karakurt". They are equipped with modern control systems, communications, navigation, electronic warfare, anti-sabotage weapons. The main weapon of the project ships is a universal launcher for eight Kalibr and/or Onyx cruise missiles.
The main characteristics of the Karakurts are: length - 67 meters, width - 11 meters, displacement - more than 800 tons, cruising range - up to 2.5 thousand miles.
In September, the launch ceremony of the Askold small rocket ship took place at the B.Butoma shipyard in Kerch in the east of Crimea. This is the second ship after the Cyclone, the ship of project 22800, built at the Kerch enterprise.
In September, it was reported that the third ship of the series, the Amur, was under construction on the factory slipway, hull work was completed, equipment was being installed.
All three ships, which will be built by the Kerch plant, will strengthen the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.
Russia has significantly strengthened its military grouping in the Black Sea region in recent years. In particular, an army corps has been created in Crimea. In recent years, the Russian Black Sea Fleet has received six diesel-electric submarines, several frigates and small missile ships equipped with long-range Kalibr cruise missiles.
It was officially reported that the Russian military deployed four divisions of long-range S-400 Triumph air defense systems in Crimea (Almaz-Antey Concern), as well as several divisions of Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and cannon complexes (developed by Shipunov Instrument Design Bureau, NPO High-Precision Complexes Holding, Rostec).
