Hong Kong. November 6th. INTERFAX - A detachment of ships of the Russian Navy consisting of the corvette "Gremyashchy", the submarines "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" and "Volkhov", performing the transition from the Baltic to the place of permanent deployment to the Pacific Fleet (TOF), passed the Singapore Strait, the Alert 5 Twitter account, which publishes photos of the ships, reported.
The photos are dated November 5. Currently, the detachment is traveling through the South China Sea.
As the press service of the Pacific Fleet reported on October 18, "a detachment consisting of the Gremyashchy corvette and the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Volkhov submarines of Project 636.3 entered the Pacific Fleet's area of responsibility south of Sri Lanka."
According to the military, in the area of the island of Sri Lanka, the Pacific Fleet took operational control of a detachment of ships on the transition from the Black Sea Fleet, whose area of responsibility they successfully overcame.
The sailors have already left behind the Baltic, Northern, Mediterranean, Red and Arabian Seas, as well as the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
The lead corvette of the project 20385 "Rattling" is armed with Kalibr cruise missiles. The main task of such ships is to detect and destroy surface vessels or submarines, organize amphibious landings, protect the coastal zone, escort other ships. It was reported about plans to arm the ships of this project with hypersonic missiles "Zircon".
It was also reported that six diesel submarines of Project 636.3 are being built for the Pacific Fleet.
The first ship, the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, was transferred to the Russian Navy on November 25, 2019. The Volkhov submarine, the second in the series, joined the Navy on October 24, 2020. In the summer, it was reported that these two submarines were working out tasks in the Baltic before moving to the Pacific Fleet base.
On October 12, the Russian Navy handed over the third submarine of the project - the Magadan. Her transition to the TOP is expected next year.
"By 2024, the Russian Navy plans to receive the entire series of six diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3, which are being built at Admiralty Shipyards purposefully to equip the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet," Navy Commander Nikolai Evmenov said in August.
The military reported that on the fourth submarine of the Pacific series - "Ufa" - the formation of a light hull, pipe-fitting and electrical work is underway. The fifth and sixth submarines of the series - Mozhaysk and Yakutsk - were laid down at the Admiralty Shipyards in August 2021.
In 2016, the construction of the first six diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3 for the Russian Black Sea Fleet was completed. These submarines participated in a military operation in Syria - they attacked militants from the Mediterranean Sea with cruise missiles.
Submarines of Project 636.3 are equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles (developed by the Novator Design Bureau, Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region JSC).
