Moscow. November 5th. INTERFAX - The surface component of the Pacific Fleet will be replenished by 2027 with 12 corvettes of projects 20385 and 20380, said the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, quoted by the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"The construction of a series of these corvettes is underway at the Severnaya Shipyard and the Amur Shipyard. Ships of this class are already entering the Pacific Fleet. They have a number of unique characteristics that make it possible to significantly raise the level of effectiveness of the actions of the surface forces of the Pacific Fleet as part of heterogeneous groups and detachments of warships," the Commander-in-chief of the Navy said following a working meeting where issues of surface shipbuilding were considered.
He also recalled that "the Pacific Fleet also receives the newest mine defense ships of the 12700 project, the effectiveness of which exceeds the characteristics laid down in the design."
Earlier, Admiral Evmenov, following the results of a workshop where issues of submarine shipbuilding were considered, reported that "by 2024, a series of 6 diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3 will be fully built and will become part of the Pacific Fleet. Currently, construction of this series is continuing at the Admiralty Shipyards plant, which is part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
