At the latest exercises at the Kapustin Yar training ground, improved ammunition for the S-300V4 anti-aircraft system was tested.
The air defense systems themselves have also been modified to intercept ballistic missiles and hypersonic units. Tests of new equipment and ammunition were successful. Experts note that the defense of critical facilities from the air has become especially relevant after the termination of the INF Treaty.
The situation may not change in favor of Russia - the United States and NATO countries have received a legal opportunity to deploy such weapons systems on our borders.
As sources in the military department told Izvestia, specially modified anti-aircraft missiles for the S-300V4 air defense system were tested at the Kapustin Yar training ground. They are designed to defeat short- and medium-range missiles, as well as hypersonic units at long distances.
Improved ammunition will be guaranteed to shoot down aeroballistic targets. For example, highly maneuverable combat units mounted on missiles. They can change the flight path when approaching the object of attack, which makes it difficult to defeat them.
The sources also noted that the appearance of modified missiles required a minor modernization of the S-300V4 system itself. According to them, the results of the test launches were recognized as successful - the equipment worked without failures during the maneuvers, the missiles hit all targets.
