The old Soviet BTR-152 continues to be improved in Vietnam. Currently, a thoroughly modified version has been created for peacekeeping units operating as part of the UN troops.
Externally, it is distinguished by an increased height of the body. The six loopholes in the sides for the use of small arms have been sealed. A rotating turret for a machine gun is installed on the roof.
Air conditioners are installed on both sides above the armored doors. In front and aft there are video cameras with powerful spotlights, the image from which is broadcast to the monitor located in front of the driver, mounted in a completely new dashboard. The driver was replaced with a steering wheel, he and the passenger next to him received modern comfortable chairs.
There is no bare metal inside the car, everywhere, including on the ceiling, there is a soft skin that performs, apparently, an anti-splinter function.
Judging by the video footage, seats for eight people with seat belts are now mounted in the landing compartment, where wooden benches were originally located. It can be seen that the floor has been thoroughly reinforced and, perhaps, it is even made double, which should reduce the severity of the consequences of explosions on mines and land mines. There is a special folding platform for a soldier working with a machine gun on the roof.
The old gasoline engine has been replaced with a new diesel engine, more powerful and fireproof. The armored personnel carrier, painted in the white color characteristic of the UN forces, is still being tested at one of the landfills.
Earlier, a kind of protected and all-terrain ambulance was created for the contingent located in South Sudan on the basis of the BTR-152, which allows evacuating the wounded in extreme conditions.
