The US Navy posted on Twitter a photo of the tanker tanker John Lenthall going to the Black Sea to join a joint operation with NATO allies. This is the third American ship following this course. Earlier, the command ship of the Sixth Fleet of the US Navy Mount Whitne and the destroyer Porter entered the Black Sea.
Against the background of these events, the crews of the submarines of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation "Rostov-on-Don" and "Veliky Novgorod" worked out a strike with Kalibr-PL missiles on a detachment of ships of a conditional enemy.
The flagship Mount Whitne is essentially a floating headquarters from where large-scale amphibious operations are managed. It is armed only with a pair of 35 mm cannons, several machine guns and a short-range SAM.
The arsenal of the destroyer Porter is much more serious. The main weapon is 100 launchers capable of launching Tomahawk cruise missiles RIM-66 SM-2 "Standard-2" and PLUR RUM-139 ASROC. The ship is also equipped with a 127 mm Mark 45 artillery mount. Mod, a pair of 6-barrel Phalanx 20 mm SAU, Harpoon PKR and torpedoes.
