The Russian reconnaissance and strike unmanned helicopter complex "Termit" will be equipped with software algorithms with elements of artificial intelligence. The neural network will allow the drone to engage in "free hunting".
As Boris Trunov, the head of the design bureau of the Strela NGO, told RT, the operator only "captures" the target and puts it on escort, then the drone operates autonomously.
"Artificial intelligence algorithms embedded in the logic of the weapons control system are being turned on, but at the same time, the operator makes the final decision on launching the missile. The UAV-VT, thanks to the S-8L, can destroy single and group ground mobile and stationary targets," the designer explained.
It should be noted that the 80-mm S-8L missiles belong to the class of correctable aviation missiles with laser guidance and are designed to destroy armored vehicles and some types of engineering fortifications.
Recall that for the first time the Terminator drone with the S-8L missile was presented at the Army-2021 forum. The length of the reconnaissance and strike vehicle is five meters, the height is 2.3 meters. One of the advantages of Termite is the possibility of off-aerodrome basing and operation from untrained engineering sites.
