TSAMTO, November 3. The wheeled road vehicle (KDM), developed specifically for the engineering units of the Strategic Missile Forces, will replace five samples of engineering equipment designed for the preparation and maintenance of combat patrol routes and field positions of mobile ground missile systems.
The capabilities of the KDM make it possible to replace the outdated tracked and wheeled track-laying machines BAT-M, BAT-2, PKT, as well as the bulldozer BKT-RK2 and the universal road vehicle UDM.
According to its basic tactical and technical characteristics, modern KDM not only surpasses the listed engineering equipment in many ways, but also has a number of completely new functions. In particular, thanks to the availability of replaceable equipment, the engineering machine will be able to carry out loading and unloading operations.
In addition, KDM has the potential to be retrofitted with working equipment, which will allow it, if necessary, to perform uprooting of stumps, dismantling of blockages and even snacking of reinforced concrete and metal products.
Along with the KDM, the engineering units of the RVSN units receive modern engineering barrier vehicles, heavy mechanized bridges, excavators, cranes and other means of engineering weapons, according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
