At the end of last month, the Ukrainian army received more than a dozen medium-sized BTS-4 tractors restored by the Lviv Armored Plant. According to the press service of Ukroboronprom, the first batch of repaired equipment has already been sent directly to the troops, the second is waiting for shipment.
It is noted that their tactical and technical characteristics have been improved, some improvements have been made, in particular, the driving wheels from the T-80 and the unified track belts used on the same main battle tanks have been installed.
According to the director of the plant Viktor Androshchuk, the initiative to replace old tracks with new ones came from the military department of Ukraine.
As a result, the company's specialists have created new design and technological documentation for the redesigned chassis with the necessary changes.
Production of the BTS-4 began 55 years ago. It is equipped with a crane installation, electric welding equipment, traction and additional winches, a bulldozer blade.
Weight - 38000 kg. The engine power is 580 hp. The maximum speed on the highway is at least 40 km/h. Crew - 3 people.
The Lviv plant can also convert T-72 tanks into more modern Lev evacuation vehicles, which are copies of the Russian BRAM-1, but there is not enough money for their purchase.
