The captured T-64BV main battle tank of one of the Donbass People's Militia units received "red eyes" - two special searchlights are installed on both sides of a 125 mm smoothbore cannon.
Apparently, this is a local analogue of the optoelectronic suppression complex, which should prevent the guidance of guided anti-tank missiles of the enemy of various types.
Interestingly, such equipment had never been installed on the "sixty-fourth" before, and the fighters independently tried to increase the survivability characteristics. However, it is not entirely clear how effective such measures are.
Also, in comparison with the original version, the dynamic protection "Contact" is mounted in a slightly different way in the front of the turret and the frontal part of the hull. This option of installing "reactive armor" significantly reduces the number of vulnerabilities of the combat vehicle in the frontal projection.
This is not the first tank modernized by the People's Militia, and quite interesting samples were previously demonstrated.
For example, at a military parade dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a super-protected T-64BV drove through the streets of Donetsk, which local craftsmen managed to protect from all sides, even from attacks from the rear.
In 2014, Ukraine had a fleet of more than 1,100 T-64 of various modifications, a significant number of which were lost during the fighting in the Donbas. The militia even managed to capture the Bulat BM, which for a long time was considered the most advanced version of these Kharkov tanks. The cars were restored and continued service with the new owners.
