The Aviationist was struck by the sound of the Su-57 fighter jet engine.
An authoritative resource dedicated to military aviation, The Aviationist drew attention to the "very cool videos" of the passage of Su-57 fighters over cities posted on the Web. The first one was filmed back in June 2020 during the opening of the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, Honored Test Pilot of the USSR Igor Petrovich Volk in Zhukovsky. The second was in May 2021 at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow.
And the author was fascinated by the high-frequency sound that airplanes make. The secret of the terrible crescendo is in the Saturn AL-41F1 NPO engine, the so-called first stage engine. A new engine known as the "Product 30" has been developed specifically for the Su-57, but it is not yet ready for production.
The Su-57 uses an S-shaped air intake that does not cover the entire surface of the engine, as is done on the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II, leaving it unprotected from radar signals reflection. It was claimed that this problem would be partially solved with the help of a radar blocker. Recently, in a video for the 100th anniversary of the Chkalov State Flight Test Center, these blockers were allegedly shown for the first time.
