Russia will develop kamikaze drone technology to protect the country's maritime borders from intruder vessels. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source in the military-industrial complex.
According to the source of the publication, the new system will include reconnaissance drones and several types of barrage ammunition. It is noted that kamikaze drones will be able to launch both from coastal launchers and from installations on Russian ships. Some components of this system have already been tested, the source stressed.
In addition, he said that one of the main advantages of using drones is the low cost of operation, since barrage shells are cheaper than anti-ship missiles. The source also stressed that such a system should dramatically reduce the desire of other countries to invade the waters of Russia.
Earlier it was reported that a group of Russian specialists created a small-sized radar station "Volna" to search for drones (UAVs). The new device will allow detecting inconspicuous and stationary targets.
