"Army Collection" N11-2021
The eleventh issue of the magazine "Army Collection" of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation contains an article by V. Litvinenko, A. Klyukoyt "Modernization and development of new artillery models".
In particular, the article mentions possible measures to improve the capabilities of the famous Russian 240-mm self-propelled mortar 2C4 "Tulip".
The most radical step will be a new chassis - the newest all-terrain vehicle of the Miass Automobile Plant Ural-63706. Currently, a modified base is being used, also known for the SU-100P self-propelled anti-tank gun, released in a small series in the 50s.
It is noted: "the main directions of modernization of this system are: placement of the mortar warhead on a new automobile chassis, acquisition of a unified transport loading machine, development and implementation of a new generation of high-precision ammunition and a number of other directions."
It is assumed that the unique mortar improved in this way will be in service with the Russian army for a long time.
