The newest nuclear submarine of the 885M project (code "Yasen-M") "Novosibirsk" will perform at least four launches of Onyx and Kalibr-PL cruise missiles in the next two months before being transferred to the Russian Navy during state tests in the next two months. This was reported to TASS by a source in the military-industrial complex.
"The Novosibirsk submarine is planned to be transferred to the Russian fleet before the end of this year. During this time, at least four launches of Onyx and Kalibr-PL cruise missiles will be carried out, including one salvo using both types of missiles," he said.
According to him, practical work is planned to be carried out approximately starting from mid-November with the implementation of both single launches and multiple launches. Shooting will be carried out both on shore targets and on the surface, both from the surface and from the underwater position.
The interlocutor of the agency also stressed that the launches of the newest hypersonic missile "Zircon", which is being tested, are not planned to be carried out during the state tests of the Novosibirsk nuclear submarine.

About the submarine
The Novosibirsk submarine first went to sea for factory sea trials in July 2021. During the International Naval Salon, the head of Sevmash (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation), Mikhail Budnichenko, told TASS that after the completion of the VHI, state tests will begin on this submarine and it is planned to transfer it to the fleet at the end of 2021.
Novosibirsk is the first production submarine of the 885M Yasen-M project. It was launched on December 25, 2019. The main strike weapons of the ships of this project are the Kalibr-PL and Onyx cruise missiles. In the future, they will receive hypersonic Zircon missiles, the tests of which began with the Severodvinsk nuclear submarine of the Yasen family in early October 2021.
The lead submarine of the Yasen-M project, Kazan, was transferred to the Northern Fleet on May 7, 2021. On July 30, the Sevmash enterprise in Severodvinsk launched the Krasnoyarsk submarine of the same project.
