Vietnam continues experiments on the creation of wheeled self-propelled guns. Yesterday, on October 28, the Vietnamese TV channel QPVN showed a story with video footage of tests of a promising self-propelled gun PTH-130-K255V.
The new ACS is based on the KrAZ-255B chassis, on which the M-46 howitzer is mounted. The video shows a computer model of a self-propelled gun, its sea trials and test shooting.
Tests of ACS PTH-130-K255V
Earlier, Vietnam had already experimented with wheeled self-propelled guns, creating the PTH105 model (captured American howitzers on the chassis of the Ural car). At the same time, the combination of the KrAZ chassis and the M-46 howitzer is not new - this was previously seen in the Cuban Jupiter V self-propelled gun, and at the EDEX-2018 exhibition Egypt presented the M-46-1M self-propelled gun.
M-46 is a Soviet towed cannon of corps artillery. It was created by the design bureau of plant No. 172 in 1946-1950 and was intended to replace the 122-mm cannon of the 1931/37 model. Despite obsolescence, today the M-46 guns remain in service with dozens of armies around the world.
