In total, there are more than 100 Russian-made helicopters in the country
Moscow. October 29. INTERFAX - Russian Helicopters has carried out major repairs of six military transport Mi-17-1B at the Peruvian Air Force base in Lima in two years, the press service of the holding reported.
"The repair work was carried out by the Novosibirsk Aircraft Repair Plant (NARZ) of the Russian Helicopters Holding (part of Rostec) under the direct control of the NCV Mil and Kamov, the developer of Mi helicopters. As a result of the maintenance carried out, the Peruvian helicopters have an inter-repair service life of 8 years and an inter-repair resource of 2000 hours," the press service said.
The holding noted that currently, especially against the background of the coronavirus pandemic, Peru is actively operating previously delivered Russian-made helicopters.
"The vehicles are used for various tasks: transportation, search and rescue of people in areas affected by natural disasters, combating drug trafficking, as well as for humanitarian purposes, such as the delivery of medicines, food, clothing," the company said.
"Today, more than a hundred Russian-made helicopters are in operation in the country, so we attach special importance to their repair and modernization," said Andrey Boginsky, CEO of Russian Helicopters, whose words are quoted in the press service.
He noted that Russian helicopter technology has proven itself well in Peru since the Soviet Union - in 1970, the USSR was one of the first to come to the aid of Peruvians after the earthquake and handed over medical Mi-8 helicopters as humanitarian aid.
